(Part II of III) - Domains for Listing Detail Pages
Your
BIRDVIEW website offers amazing web pages for all
the listings you enter into the MLS. Using the Listing
Manger in your Web Assistant you can also input rentals,
commercial, FSBO, office exclusives, and sold listings.
The best way to use these pages for advertising is
to hook a domain name to the webpage that is created.
Find
the Detail Page for Your MLS Listing
- Go
to 'yourwebsite.com/12345.ad' and replace
'yourwebsite.com' with your OfficeSite and/or AgentSite
domain and '12345' with your listing's MLS number.
- When
the 'thumbnail' of your listing loads click the
'More Information' link to view the 'Listing Detail'
page.
- Press
the 'F11' key on your keyboard to reveal the web
address for this detail page and write it down.
Find
a Self-Added or SOLD Listing Detail Page
- Go
to the 'dbtypes.htm' page on your company's website
(i.e. www.YourCompanySite.com/dbtypes.htm)
- When
you see the list of property types (i.e. Single
Family, Vacant Land, Rentals etc.) select the type
your sold or manually added listing can be found
under.
- Browse
through the listings and find the one you want.
- Click
the thumbnail photo of that listing and the detail
page for that listing will open in a new window.
- Press
the 'F11' key on your keyboard to reveal the web
address for that detail page.
Adding a Domain Name to Your Listing
- Once
you locate the web address of your listing's detail
page you can begin your search for a domain to use
in advertising that listing. Try buying a name similar
to the physical address of the property like 123MainSt.com.
- Instructions
for domain name registration are found in last months
issue of Newsbeek.
- Now
park your domain by sending an e-mail to support@birdview.com
and ask BIRDVIEW to park your new domain at the
web address for your listing's detail page you located
above. Your email needs to include your name, e-mail
address and company name along with the registered
domain and the web address of your listing detail
page. (Save time: copy & paste the URLs from
the address bar into the body of your e-mail.)
NOTE: When coordinating your advertising efforts
keep in mind It takes several days for new domains
to populate the Internet.
